This program is part of Ohio Wesleyan's Performing Arts and Lecture Series and will feature Schubert's String Quartet No. 9 in G minor, Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 3 and Dvorak's Piano Quintet in A major, op. 81. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $4 for students.

The St. Lawrence String Quartet has performed to rave reviews through tours around the world. Le Monde of Paris called them "a quartet of stars." In a recent review in the San Francisco Chronicle, one critic hailed, "here is an ensemble that plays with energy and fearless adventurousness." Since its founding in 1989, the St. Lawrence String Quartet has proven it possible to entertain a wide range of audiences while maintaining the highest level of musicianship and technique. After an auspiciously successful concert at OWU last season, the Quartet was immediately re-engaged.

Through generous sponsorship, enthusiastic audiences, and musical excellence, the St. Lawrence String Quartet has earned a place at the top of its field. The natural talent, youthful exuberance, and unique musical understanding of each member contributes to the artistic unity that continues to captivate audiences along the St. Lawrence River, across the oceans, and around the world.

As part of its exclusive multi-record contract with EMI Classics, the St. Lawrence String Quartet recorded a thrilling rendition of Schumann's Quartets Nos. 1 and 3, released in May of 1999. The quartet has recently been appointed to the faculty of Stanford University in California. The Quartet will play in Germany this fall, and in many of the major musical capitals of the United States throughout the season.

Bennett, currently Associate Professor of Piano and Chairman of the Department of Music at Ohio Wesleyan University, has had an active career performing as both soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, Russia, and the Far East.

Gray Chapel is in University Hall, located at 61 South Sandusky Street, Delaware, Ohio. For additional information, call 740-368-3185.
