Award Winning Writer, Producer Alfonse Ruggiero Discusses Success in Hollywood

DELAWARE, OHIO -- Alfonse Ruggiero, winner of the Edgar Allen Poe Award and an Emmy and Golden Globe nominee, will lecture as part of the Sagan National Colloquium public affairs series at Ohio Wesleyan University on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. in OWU's Hamilton-Williams Campus Center Benes Room. In his lecture entitled "Hollywood - How to Get There from Here," Ruggiero will explore the path to being a Hollywood scriptwriter and producer, which relates to this year's Colloquium theme on "Dimensions of Creativity."

From learning the craft, to getting an agent, to filming your vision, having success in Hollywood is like navigating through shark-infested waters. Ruggiero will discuss how to use the resources of your university and peers in order to blaze your own trial and make Hollywood come to you. Explaining the teamwork and vision necessary to create a moving art form and why the TV and movie industry is the best and most exciting business in the world, Ruggiero will share his insights into making Hollywood dreams a reality.

Ruggiero has written, directed, and produced many landmark network and cable television shows, including Miami Vice, The Wise Guy, Airwolf, and The Untouchables. His work also includes a documentary and feature length film scripts. Ruggiero has worked in locations such as Spain, North Africa, Montreal, and Paris as well as in Thailand and Cambodia, filming a documentary on a drought in the E-san Region and a Vietnam Era action adventure.
