April 5, 2005

DELAWARE, OHIO -- Ohio Wesleyan students, faculty and staff will be donating more than $6,000, to the Delaware County Chapter of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Ohio following the annual Bowl for Kids Sake event on Friday.

Teams from Ohio Wesleyan's building and grounds, housekeeping, several Greek chapters and OWU service clubs filled Delaware Lanes' 16 lanes from 10 p.m. until after Midnight. The teams raised $5,885.40 and with money still coming in the total is expected to surpass $6,000.

Each year trophies are awarded to the staff and student teams that raise the most money. This year the winning staff team was "The Gutter Dusters" headed by team captain Ruthann Huston and comprised of housekeeping staff from the East side of campus. The winning student team was Chi Phi Fraternity who raised an astounding $1,270 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. A very close second was the team from Sigma Chi Fraternity who also raised over a thousand dollars, and thus was awarded the much-coveted extremely large jug of cheese balls.
