OWU Community Day Rocks on Saturday

March 22, 2005

Delaware, Ohio -- Ohio Wesleyan University will host a Community Day, presented by the Wesleyan Council on Student Affairs, on Saturday, March 26, from Noon until 6 p.m.

"Community Day is an all-day extravaganza aimed at bringing the OWU community closer together," says senior Colin Campbell, one of the program's organizers.

The event includes the Ohio Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team battling Denison University on Selby Field (45 South Henry St., Delaware) at 1 p.m.

Events will move to the "Hill," the area around Ohio Wesleyan's fraternity houses, where an outdoor stage will rock from 2 - 6 p.m. Off-campus acts include Jupiter Sunrise, Skylar's Dream, and The Sass. Jupiter Sunrise is a campus favorite having rocked Ohio Wesleyan 10 times with their rock-alternative sound. Skylar's Dream will bring their acoustic emo-pop sound from Connecticut. The Sass, out of Columbus, is an up-and-coming alternative-punk band.

Campus additions to Community Day will include The Backstretch Boys, including OWU professor of politics and government Sean Kay; the OWTsiders, and the Magic Marker Karate Company, featuring Ohio Wesleyan students Kevin Collier and Matt Mead.

Community Day will also provide food, bouncy games, club booths, intramural sports, and other festivities.
