Broucker Speaks on 'Injury Prevention and Massage' for Fit OWU Brown Bag

January 20, 2005

Leslie Broucker, sole proprietor of The Trainer's Touch, will present "Injury Prevention and Massage" on Tuesday, January 25, at 11 a.m. and noon in Ohio Wesleyan's Hamilton-Williams Campus Center Benes Room A as part of the FIT OWU Brown Bag series.

The session is free and open to the public.

"One of the keys to fitness is getting newcomers past those first two weeks," says Broucker. "It is never fun working through an injury and I'm going to highlight ways to prevent that injury in the first place." Broucker will discuss self-massage, ways to alleviate sore muscles, proper techniques, and the importance of water intake in prevention of injuries. "Massage can be beneficial for the prevention of injuries, but also in stress reduction," says Broucker. "I'll also provide some tips on taking care of sore muscles, so they don't have to go see another person to relieve the pain."

Broucker is a licensed athletic trainer, massage therapist, and is currently attending acupuncture school. The Trainer's Touch can be reached at 740-803-1177 and focuses on sports and deep-tissue massage techniques.

This is the second of six brown-bag discussions for the FIT OWU program. For more information on FIT OWU or a complete list of the Brown Bag lunches visit http://fitowu.owu.edu/.
