Knop to Discuss Strategies for Effective Exercise Routines

March 2, 2005

Delaware, Ohio -- Getting to the gym isn't the hardest part of creating an exercise routine it's going back the second time.
Ohio Wesleyan Professor of Physical Education Nancy Knop will help those interested in physical activity strategies for a successful and enjoyable exercise routine. Knop will present "Enjoying Physical Activity" as a FIT OWU Brown Bag at 11 a.m. and noon on March 14 in the Hamilton-Williams Campus Center Benes Room B. The presentation is free and open to the public.
"This program isn't for people who are currently doing physical activity and enjoying it," says Knop. "This program is for those who don't enjoy doing physical activity or can't keep their programs going." The key is to strategize and build a program around what each person enjoys. "We'll strategize on how to select the type of training that will work best for you, how much and at what level you should be working out, and finally what does it take to get off the couch and out the door.
"We will look at ways to prepare you for physical activity that will ensure success and feel good," says Knop. "I hope that there will be a better understanding of how to strategically start an exercise program after the program.
The final Brown Bag Chat will happen on March 22 at 11 a.m. and noon, when Delaware General Health District's Connie Codispoti will offer a follow-up presentation on "Eating to Prevent Disease."
