GEICO CEO Speaks in OWU's Milligan Lecture Series

DELAWARE, OHIO - Louis A. Simpson, president and chief executive officer of GEICO Corporation and a 1958 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, will speak on Thursday Sept. 29 at 7:30 PM in the Hamilton Williams Campus Center Benes rooms as part of TheMilligan "Leaders in Business" Lecture Series. Simpson’s lecture is titled "Creating Shareholder Value."

Lou SimpsonAfter graduating from OWU, Simpson earned a masters degree in economics at Princeton. Prior to joining GEICO in 1979 as the senior vice president and chief investment officer, Simpson was a partner at Stein Roe and Farnham, a Chicago investment firm and president and chief executive officer of Western Asset Management, a subsidiary of the Los Angeles-based Western Bancorporation. At GEICO, Simpson served as vice chairman of the board from 1985 to 1993 before being elected president and chief executive, capital operations, in May of 1993.

Simpson is the director of VeriSign, Western Asset Funds, Inc., Western Asset Income Fund and a trustee of Western Asset Premier Bond Fund. He currently serves as a trustee for the Cate School and the Urban Institute. He is also a member of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Council and serves as vice chair of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.
