Benjamin Hill '03 Receives Fulbright

July 7, 2005

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Benjamin Hill, a 2003 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan, has received a Fulbright scholarship to pursue research in Honduras.

"I plan to investigate how the anti-gang laws in Honduras, which are very strict, affect communities and how effective at eliminating gangs they actually are," said Hill. "Gangs are a big problem in Central American countries likes Honduras, partly because of the inefficiencies of the police and criminal justice system and partly because of poor economies leading individuals into crime as a means of livelihood." Hill will leave for Honduras in September and will live there for the next year.

Hill recently completed his second year at The Ohio State University's Moritz College of Law. At OWU Hill majored in history, international studies and Spanish. After he completes law school Hill hopes to work in international law.
