Orchesis 2006 to celebrate world music and dance at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, OHIO - The Department of Theatre & Dance at Ohio Wesleyan University will present its annual student dance concert, Orchesis 2006, on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 11 at 2 p.m. on the main stage of OWU's Chappelear Drama Center. 

This year's production features seven new dances choreographed by students Natalie Castro, Amy Gearica, Sarah Gospodnetich, Blaire Hayden, Katie Holick, Adrienne Scott, and Lydia Spitalny. 

Tim Veach, artistic director of Columbus Dance Theatre, will serve as artistic director for the production. "This year's concert is a celebration of world music and dance," Veach said. "The production is unified by a merging of contemporary dance with music of diverse cultures. It is exciting to see these young choreographers working in new musical territory." 

Orchesis 2006 features a company of more than two dozen dancers and live music by jazz composer and musician Bradley Sowash. He will play throughout the performances providing a backdrop of diverse music bringing together exciting music and choreographic experimentation.
