SNC Speaker to Focus on Global Warming, Abrupt Climate Change

F. Sherwood Rowland (OWU ’48) will speak on “Global Warming and Abrupt Climate Change” on Tuesday, October 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Benes Room of Hamilton-Williams Campus Center as a part of the Sagan National Colloquium lecture series.

Awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1995, Rowland is a Donald Bren Research Professor of Chemistry and Earth System Science at The University of California at Irvine. The Nobel Prize was given for his contributions to our understanding of the formation and decomposition of atmospheric ozone. He has continued to make significant contributions to the field of atmospheric chemistry. Rowland is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a former president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
