Awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1995, Rowland is a Donald Bren Research Professor of Chemistry and Earth System Science at The University of California at Irvine. The Nobel Prize was given for his contributions to our understanding of the formation and decomposition of atmospheric ozone. He has continued to make significant contributions to the field of atmospheric chemistry. Rowland is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a former president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The Sagan National Colloquium is in its 21st year at Ohio Wesleyan. This year’s theme is “The Citizen Scientist, How Science Affects Our Daily Lives.” All lectures are free of charge and open to the public.
