Convocation Welcomes Class of 2010, Families to OWU

August 18, 2006

The countdown has begun, as Ohio Wesleyan’s staff and faculty members, and undoubtedly, the 575-plus new OWU students and their families are readying themselves for Orientation and the start of a brand-new academic experience.

With special Orientation highlights including numerous programs, information sessions and panel discussions—with picnics, a Casino Night and ice cream social to boot — yet another key event, the all-campus Convocation program, is set for Thursday, August 24 at 8 p.m. in University Hall’s Gray Chapel. And, new this year — the event will be streaming live on OWU’s Web site at stream.owu.edu

Tagged as one of only two major university gatherings that students and their parents attend together (Commencement is the other), Convocation will feature the traditional academic processional accented with colorful regalia representing the college alma maters of OWU’s faculty and staff. Members of the Class of 2010 will be recognized as well as those students who have received special awards and honors, and President Huddleston will offer his welcoming remarks as well. Adding her musical touch and talent to the evening program will be OWU senior and voice major Qiana McNary.
The traditional ringing of the Ohio Wesleyan bell, will signal the beginning of another exciting academic year!
