Congressman Gillmor '61 to Close Nasdaq Marketplace Wednesday

DELAWARE, Ohio — Congressman Paul E. Gillmor, a 1961 Ohio Wesleyan graduate, will ring the closing bell for the NASDAQ MarketPlace at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.Congressman Gillmor (R-Old Fort) is serving his ninth term in the United States House of Representatives representing the people of the Fifth Congressional District in Ohio.Currently, Gillmor serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce where he serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment and Hazardous Materials. The full committee has jurisdiction in the areas of energy, the environment, telecommunications, broadcasting, the Internet, healthcare, consumer protection and trade.Gillmor is also a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, which is responsible for banking issues, insurance, international monetary policy, capital markets and investment, government sponsored enterprises, and public and private housing. On the Financial Services Committee, Gillmor is assigned to the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises as well as the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions.He is chairman of the Economic and Security Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, a position to which he was unanimously elected by representatives of the 19 NATO member countries.Prior to his election to Congress, Mr. Gillmor served in the Ohio Senate for twenty-two years. As a State Senator, he was unanimously elected Republican leader five times, and he served as President of the Senate for three General Assemblies.In addition to earning his B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan, Congressman Gillmor received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.

He is married to Karen L. Gillmor, who currently serves as Vice Chairman of the State Employment Relations Board (SERB) in Ohio. Also a former State Senator, Mrs. Gillmor was selected in 1995 as the Outstanding Freshman Legislator in the country by the National Republican Legislators Association. Mr. Gillmor has two daughters, Linda and Julie, and three sons, Paul Michael, and twins Connor and Adam.
