February 20, 2006

DELAWARE, Ohio — Ohio Wesleyan University will host MUSE — Cincinnati's Women's Choir for a performance of "Singing Solidarity: Music by Women Composers" in the Hamilton-Williams Campus Center's Benes Rooms on Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m.

The performance, under the direction of Catherine Roma, will contain music that is fitting for both Black History and Women's History Months. In addition to the performance, information tables will be set-up for campus organizations concerned with feminist and social issues. The show, information tables, and refreshments are free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Roma founded MUSE in 1984 and it debuted with 24 performers as part of the International Women's Day Celebration outside Cincinnati. In the 22 years since, MUSE has grown to more than 60 members performing about 30 venues per year. The group has performed its works around the country plus England and Canada. MUSE is currently planning a trip to Africa.

The House of Peace and Justice, Creative Arts House, the Women's and Genders Studies Department, WCSA, RHA and the Chaplain's Office are sponsoring this performance.
