Expert on Testing the Constitutionality of Teaching Intelligent Design in Public Schools to Speak for Colloquium

DELAWARE, OHIO — Robert Pennock, author of The Tower of Babel: The Evidence Against the New Creationism, will speak Thursday, September 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Gray Chapel (61 South Sandusky Street) for Ohio Wesleyan’s Sagan National Colloquium. His speech, entitled, “The Ground Rules of Science: Why the Judge Ruled Intelligent Design Creationism Out of Court,” will focus on his October 2005 testimony when he was called as an expert witness in the Kitzmiller et al v. Dover Area School Board case, which was being tried in the US District Court in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Pennock is a philosopher of science in the Lyman Briggs School of Science and the Department of Philosophy at Michigan State University. His testimony on the creationism case was featured on CNN and in the York Daily Record. In addition, Pennock has written numerous articles regarding his work on digital organisms to test hypotheses about the evolution of complexity and of altruism.
