Ohio Wesleyan Senior, Parma Resident Wins Regents Fellowship

April 25, 2007

Robert “Bobby” Haddad, a double major in economics and pre-dentistry at Ohio Wesleyan University, has won a Regents Graduate/Professional Fellowship from the Ohio Board of Regents. Haddad is a 2003 graduate of Parma Senior High School.

The Regents Graduate/Professional Fellowship provides merit-based financial assistance to Ohio baccalaureate graduates who enroll for graduate or professional study at participating Ohio colleges and universities. After he graduates from Ohio Wesleyan in May, Haddad plans to enter the College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University.

Students are nominated for the fellowship by their universities and must demonstrate “strong academic performance and a high potential to succeed in a graduate or professional program of study.” Each fellowship provides $3,500 each year for two years of full-time professional or graduate study.

During his four years at Ohio Wesleyan, Haddad also completed a research and clinical internship as part of the Edward M. Chester, M.D. Summer Scholars program at Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University and MetroHealth Medical Center. During the internship, Haddad researched head and neck cancers and was invited to observe a variety of head and neck surgeries.
