DELAWARE, OHIO – The Ohio Wesleyan Department of Theatre & Dance will present five performances of Shakespeare’s classic “12th Night” in February. Times and dates are 8 p.m. Feb. 6, 7, 13, and 14, and 2 p.m. Feb. 15. All performances will be held in the Studio Theatre of Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave., on the Ohio Wesleyan campus.

This classic comedy of mistaken identities, intrigue, and hilarious mix-ups is one of Shakespeare’s most celebrated and performed plays. Mirth and merriment are at the heart of this timeless comedy about human nature, friendship, and the ultimate power of love.

The cast and crew include more than 50 Ohio Wesleyan students, and the play is directed by Elane Denny-Todd, M.F.A., theatre professor and chair of OWU’s Department of Theatre & Dance. The scenic design is by guest artist Jeff Gress, lighting design by Chad Knutson, costume design by Jacqueline Shelley, and stage management by Joanna Van Sickle.

To reserve tickets, call the Theatre & Dance Department at (740) 368-3845 from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Theatre Box Office, (740) 368-3855, also will be open from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Jan. 21 through Feb. 13. Ticket prices are $7 for general admission, $6 for Ohio Wesleyan faculty and staff, $5 for non-OWU students, and free to OWU students with a valid ID.

“12th Night” is presented as part of “Classic Crosby,” a year-long theatre season performed in memory of professor Robert Crosby, Ph.D., a 1939 Ohio Wesleyan graduate and a longtime chair of the university’s Theatre & Dance Department. In conjunction with the season, Ohio Wesleyan has launched an essential fund-raising initiative, “Light Up Mainstage!” to keep Chappelear Drama Center illuminated for years to come.

Money raised will be used to replace the current lighting system, bringing state-of-the-art technology to the Theatre & Dance Department. The project requires the purchase of a $750,000 lighting system to replace the current 30-year-old system. Alumni, parents, and friends of OWU’s Theatre & Dance Department are invited to help Light Up Mainstage! by making a contribution through the university’s Web site at giving.owu.edu, by calling the Office of University Relations at (740) 368-3104, or by e-mailing Karen Crosman at klcrosma@owu.edu.
