Ohio Wesleyan Appoints Marketing, Communication Director

DELAWARE, OH – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced the appointment of Mark Cooper as director of marketing and communication. Cooper previously served as Capital University’s associate vice president for public relations and marketing since 2004.

Cooper joined Capital in 1994, where his responsibilities included marketing, media and public relations, and fundraising communication. Previously, he worked in television news in roles ranging from sports anchor and reporter to in-studio host. Cooper has worked in markets including Buffalo, N.Y., and Columbus, Ohio, where he served as sports director for WSYX-ABC 6.

At Ohio Wesleyan, Cooper reports to William D. Preble, Ed.D., vice president for university enrollment and strategic communication. Cooper oversees internal and external communication, including outreach to prospective students and alumni.

“We conducted a national search for our new director and are pleased to have found such a perfect match in Mark Cooper,” Preble said. “With his understanding of the liberal arts and all forms of communication, he will continue to move Ohio Wesleyan forward.”

Cooper holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University. He and wife, Karen, live in Grove City and have three children: Robert, 15; Kathleen, 14; and Ryan, 11.
