Ohio Wesleyan University Appoints Dean of Students

July 28, 2009

DELAWARE, OH – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced the appointment of Kimberlie L. Goldsberry, Ph.D., as the university’s new dean of students. Goldsberry currently serves as executive director of student involvement at Xavier University in Cincinnati.

Goldsberry has worked in student affairs for more than 17 years, including 13 years at Xavier. Previously, she worked at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio; Oakland University in Rochester, Mich.; and Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Bowling Green and her doctorate in higher education at Ohio University.

Goldsberry’s experience includes strategic planning from an institutional, divisional, and departmental level. As Xavier’s executive director of student involvement, her accomplishments included serving on the senior leadership team for the Division of Student Life and Leadership; conducting outcome development and assessment initiatives for the Office of Student Involvement; and collaborating with students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni to enhance opportunities to engage students in learning.

At Ohio Wesleyan, Goldsberry will report to Craig Ullom, Ed.D., vice president for student affairs, where one of her first assignments will be to examine assessment protocols to ensure student programming is meeting student needs. In particular, Goldsberry will assist with reviews of Greek Life and the student judicial process. She also will work closely with faculty to create additional hands-on learning opportunities for students.

“I’m pleased to welcome Kimberlie Goldsberry to Ohio Wesleyan,” Ullom said. “She will play a significant role in transforming the Division of Student Affairs, helping to bridge the gap between administrative responsibility and student contact. Kimberlie will focus on strategies and direct efforts to promote student persistence and success.”

Barbara Andereck, Ph.D., professor of physics and astronomy, said “As Ohio Wesleyan formulates an integrated plan to provide our students with opportunities that will expose them to global issues, allow them experiences that will call on them to apply their classroom learning in the broader world, and engage them in a welcoming campus community, we are ready for an “on-the-ground” Dean of Students who can connect to the students as well as to the academic community. We have found the right person for this central position in Kimberlie Goldsberry.”
