DELAWARE, OH – Ohio Wesleyan University fine arts major Anh Vu, a senior from Vietnam, has been selected as an award winner in the 2011 annual Awards for Excellence in the Visual Arts sponsored by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO).

Vu is among a group of six Ohio college students who will participate in a panel discussion and awards reception April 13 during a free public event at Ohio Wesleyan. Vu’s series of three artist’s books titled “Organics” will be on exhibit at the reception.

“It’s a great experience for undergraduate students to have to prepare a portfolio and write statements, as we did for this award,” Vu said. “This provides good preparation for real-world work after graduation.”

Fine arts faculty from independent colleges in Ohio were asked to nominate two outstanding senior artists from each campus for this competition. Learn more about the student nominees and the AICUO awards.

Area high school students are invited to attend the AICUO Student Panel Discussion and bring samples of their artwork for critique by the award winners. Sandusky St. A moderator will lead the student-finalists, who will answer questions about their artworks, college educational experiences, and career plans.

An AICUO Award Reception will follow at 6 p.m. in the Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St .A small exhibit at the reception will feature one work from each finalist’s portfolio, with a poster outlining his or her achievements.
