Ohio Wesleyan University Launches Free OWU Mobile App
New Software Program Provides 12 Features to Enhance Campus Connection

DELAWARE, OH – Ohio Wesleyan University is launching OWU Mobile, a free application to help iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android devices connect with the campus from anywhere in the world.

The app is available for download at the Apple iTunes App Store and the Android Market.

OWU Mobile allows students, parents, alumni, employees, and friends to access:

  • News, including official Ohio Wesleyan media releases, Connect2 OWU online newsletter articles, and The Transcript independent student newspaper.
  • Course Catalog, featuring class offerings applicable to Ohio Wesleyan’s 93 majors, sequences, and courses of liberal arts and pre-professional study in 24 departments and nine interdisciplinary programs.
  • Library, including the ability to search Ohio Wesleyan’s collection of more than 550,000 items contained within its main, science, and music libraries.
  • Events Calendar, featuring access to OWU’s academic calendar and current list of public lectures, exhibits, and performances.
  • Directory, including telephone and email contact information for all Ohio Wesleyan faculty and staff.
  • Campus map, featuring a searchable list of buildings and places of interest.
  • Athletics News, including access to game schedules and the latest headlines for OWU’s 23 varsity Battling Bishop sports.
  • Video, including OWU student-created videos posted on the university’s official YouTube channel.
  • Image Gallery, featuring the latest photographs of Ohio Wesleyan people, places, and events.
  • Giving to OWU, providing access to OWU’s secure, online giving form and information about the many opportunities to support Ohio Wesleyan’s mission and vision.
  • Alumni, providing access to the myOWU portal to help our graduates stay in touch with their alma mater and each other.
  • Emergency, providing quick access to OWU’s Department of Public Safety and Delaware City Police Department.

“OWU Mobile is a great way to connect to Ohio Wesleyan whether you’re on campus, around the corner, or across the globe,” said Brian Rellinger, chief information officer. “I hope people make full use of the many connections it creates.”

The OWU Mobile app will be available for WebOS and Blackberry devices in the near future. Additionally, mobile web browsers may connect without a dedicated application at m.owu.edu.
