Ramon Carreno’s most recent research has focused on the systematics of parasitic nematodes (worms) in mammals, based on a project funded by the National Science Foundation. Other research interests include diagnostic parasitology, as well as genotyping and systematics of other complex parasitic organisms. Research approaches incorporate light and electron microscopy, as well as cloning and DNA sequencing. He also serves as Ohio Wesleyan's pre-veterinary medicine program adviser.
